La galerie ColletPark présente une exposition de Richard Deacon intitulée New Bases #2.0. pour laquelle l’artiste britannique renoue avec la thématique d’oeuvre-support.

Oeuvres au statut ambivalent, les New Bases 2.0 (acier inoxydable, peinture, 2008) sont composées de deux corps superposés; un volume conique et une structure armillaire horizontale.

La forme asymétrique des structures diffère pour chaque oeuvre.
Malgré leur échelle domestique, la non-fonctionnalité des New Bases 2.0 est implicite
et valorise la présence quasi-transcendantale de l’objet.

Les structures montées en équilibre sur les volumes coniques évoquent la réminiscence d’un jeu combinatoire, transformant l’oeuvre en instrument symbolique, marqueur d’un horizon artificiel.

New Alphabet (ruban adhésif papier, graphite sur mur, 2008) est un dessin géométrique exécuté par l’artiste sur le mur principal de la galerie. Ce Wall Drawing tracé à la mine de carbone, représente des surfaces polygonales interconnectées.

New Base #1 (aluminium, 2003) est presentée parallèlement à l’exposition.
Cette oeuvre, prémisse des New Bases #2.0, est l’une des premières expérimentations de l’artiste sur cette thématique.
